Posted by Cecilia under: Economy; Energy; Environment; Home .

If we want to change the world we have to begin with ourselves.  If we want to see rapid development of sustainable technologies we have to integrate them in our lives.

Who among us is already living green?   From our writings of the past year, we compiled our own list of people who already started to make their green life reality.  On this list there are celebrities, scientists and persons who just could be your neighbors.

    1. Susan and Richard Bechtold:  Hired Santa Fe architect Mark Chalom, who won the Build Green New Mexico award for this green home.
    2. Richard Pitman: Santa Fe High School teacher who dedicated himself to successful improvements of recycling at schools.
    3. Carolyn Coquillette: Hybrid garage owner in San Francisco offering complete services for hybrid cars and conversions to all-electric cars.
    4. Adrian Grenier: Actor who’s green home is the subject of the film “Alter Eco“, an eco lifestyle and makeover series for Planet Green TV.
    5. Ed and Eleanor Cook: After purchasing a Dairy farm they transformed it in the eco-friendly apple-farm Cider Hill Farm, a pioneer and leader for environmental friendly farming.
    6. Lester R. Brown: Founder of the Earth Policy Institute lays out in his book “Plan B 3.0: Mobilizing to Save Civilization” a plan to stabilize climate and restore the earth’s damaged ecosystem.
    7. Lucas Laborde:  Seventeen-year-old student from San Antonio, TX who created his own green car by converting a gas-powered Bradley GT II into an electric.
    8. Elizabeth Thompson:  Minister of Energy and The Environment in Barbados received the Champion of the Earth Award for her role in environmental protection across the Caribbean region.
    9. William Yuan:  Talented twelve-year-old student who invented a 3D solar cell which absorbs both visible and UV light.
    10. T. Boone Pickens:  Investor and billionaire leased land in West Texas to boost the use of wind energy hoping to ease U.S. dependence on foreign oil.
