The Earth Policy Institute is dedicated to building a sustainable future. Its founder and president Lester R. Brown has been described by the Washington Post as “one of the world’s most influential thinkers”.
The list of Brown’s publications is impressive. He has authored or coauthored 50 books. The most recent book is “Plan B 3.0: Mobilizing to Save Civilization”.
In his most recent book Brown gives the world a wake-up call: “We need not go beyond ice melting to see that civilization is in trouble. Business-as-usual is no longer a viable option. It is time for Plan B.”
Plan B lays out a wide-ranging plan to stabilize climate, stabilize population, eradicate poverty and restore the earth’s damaged ecosystems.
The core of the Plan B energy economy is wind but also includes solar and geothermal energy. Brown sees the emergence of long range thinking which recognizes the urgency of moving away from fossil fuel.
Support of nature and the environment requires creative thinkers, persistent researchers and forward looking companies.
