Solar powered Jazz festival in Vienna

Posted by Cecilia under: Economy; Energy .

This year Jazz festival Vienna will become one of the first major events to be powered entirely by solar power.

The Jazz festival, which takes place in Vienna from June 29 to July 9, 2009, will use only solar energy to power their five concert stages.

Organizers of the festival are working together with GLOBAL 2000, a leading Austrian environmental organization.

They’ll install photovoltaic panels at the city hall in Vienna in order to generate power for the festival.

This innovative collaboration of solar energy and performance art suggests a growing environmental consciousness among the diverse functions of our society.
